Common Sheet Metal Processing Processes

1 Material Placement

Laser cutting machines or punching machines process the material according to the programmed files, where laser cutting machines can meet various shapes of parts cutting and punching machines have the advantage in batch processing.

2 Bending

According to the marked size of the bending drawing, the bending machine is used to bend and shape the workpiece. The bending die is divided into upper and lower die, different shapes require different dies, and the accuracy of the bending size is determined by the good or bad die.

3 Forming

Ordinary punching machine or other equipment to use the mold to make the workpiece directly into the desired shape, which is mostly stamping forming, in the automotive sheet metal and electronic products field is more widely used.

4 Tapping

According to the bottom hole of the workpiece, the corresponding internal thread is machined on the workpiece. Tapping has a requirement for the thickness of the plate – too thin and easy to slip.

5 Countersinking

Countersinking. A tapered hole is machined in the workpiece. The workpiece is installed with a countersunk hole in order to have a good appearance and no exposed screw head.

6 Press riveting

Using a punch or hydraulic press to press the rivet nut, rivet screw or rivet nut column and other fasteners firmly pressed in the workpiece, riveting requires a pre-cut bottom hole in the workpiece, in the bending first fasteners pressed in the workpiece, can reduce the workload of welding, the special workpiece can play a role in the appearance of protection.

7 Pull riveting

Pre-opening the bottom hole on the workpiece, using a pull rivet gun and pull rivet to connect two or more workpieces closely together, with good hole-filling performance, good airtightness, high riveting strength.

8 Punching convex package

Punching machine or hydraulic press with a mold to make the workpiece form a raised shape, commonly punching shutters, etc. Different shapes require different molds, overall beautiful appearance and high functionality.

9 Stamping

Punching out words, symbols or other shapes on the workpiece by using molds, mainly company name, company logo, company website, company contact number, the advantage is that it can be retained permanently with the workpiece.

10 Punching Mesh Hole

The mesh plate on the workpiece can play a beautiful decorative role and meet the function of heat dissipation.

11 Deburring

The burrs on the surface of the workpiece are removed with tools such as sanders and files, which can make the workpiece processing place smooth and flat to prevent cuts and scratches.
